The book summary for Masters of Memory: The Strategic Use of Autobiographical Memory by the German Nobility MARCUS FUNCK AND STEPHAN MALINOWSKI: The Nobility's Culture of Memory highlights what I know to be truth herrentum (noble truth) : the family did maintain rigorous standards for breed refinement. Whether pruning a bloodline in dogs and horses, or directing behaviors in their offspring, the aristocrat's position demanded constant self-refinement to presumedly support their importance.
My mother was a well-trained noble, and as described in this essay, she too looked upon her loss of homeland, family, title, and love of life, with an unfortunate bitter sadness.
